PP: Assignment 3
I was not sure how I would like this book at first, because I am not used to reading romance novels. However, I was very curious as to how this book would compare to Jane Eyre. I was glad to know that this book would not be as grim as Jane Eyre. I have liked the story thus far, and I like the way that the story is starting to develop. I have also like seeing some of the elements of the story that are very similar to that of Jane Eyre, giving me an idea of what could possibly happen next. At this point in the story, I think that both Mr. Collins and Wickham could have a large impact on the story in their own way. Mr. Collins could be a factor for Darcy because now he has taken an interest in

I was somewhat glad to read this book because not only was this book different from Jane Eyre, but it was also not going to be told in first person. In addition to that, this is the first pleasant novel that is a romantic novel. In comparison to Jane Eyre, then it is my first positive romance. That being said I think I really liked the beginning of this book, because I feel like I am getting a good feel for what each character’s personality is like. I think that the language is a little different, because of the time that it was written, but I don’t think that it has thrown me off too much. I think that as the story continues, the language may continue to get difficult, but I must continue reading the story. The beginning of this story actually reminds me of The Taming of the Shrew. In the sense that two daughters need to be married and they are both different. The only difference is that the oldest sister is actually interested in the guy, hence Jane dance with Bingley twice. Whereas

Assignment 1
In the first few chapters of Pride and Prejudice, several characters in the book pop up all at once and it was hard for me to distinguish who was who. The language in this book seems to be a bit harder for me at least to understand, where Jane Eyre wasn’t all that hard. I’m glad we are watching a film version in class while reading the book because it helps me figure out the story line and the characters better. However, at the same time I am a little worried that watching a different adaptation of the story first might confuse me because it isn’t exactly Jane Austen’s original voice, but someone customizing the story for their movie. The comical side of the book becomes apparent very quickly and there seems to be an abundance of the quintessentially dry and witty British humor. Overall, I am excited to read this book because I have heard lots of good things about it and is something I have always wanted to read.
