P&P #1

After reading the first five chapters of Pride and Prejudice I was confused on why the girls would be so stunned at the fact of one new gentleman moving into they town they reside in. I understand it is great that he is loaded but, do they live in the middle of nowhere and one man moving nearby could cause this much excitement? I really like that they have balls all the time, it is the one thing about the olden times that I find very intriguing. That they got to go to these, and that people had more self-respect for themselves, people were not trashy they were elegant back then, more girls should act that way now. I think the mom is kind of crazy, each daughters suitors should be their own deal not some sort of weird mother daughter bonding experience. I don't like Mr. Darcy so far, I don't care who you are, how much money you have or who you are related to, it does not give you any reason to be arrogant like he is. I feel like this book could be a reality check for most of the teenagers in America these days about how to get their head on straight.
