Act 4

In act 4 after Katherine and Petruchio are married, they go back to Petruchio’s house and that is where the real madness happens. When they first arrive, Petruchio goes off on everyone for no apparent reason and he is just rejecting everything and everyone. This begins to make Katherine feel bad and she starts to defend some of Petruchios servants. Pretty much afterwards, he is killing her with kindness and is making oblivious decisions. I thought it was funny because Katherine was seeing how she treats people, but I didn’t think she realized it. Petruchio is doing a good job at pretending to be very mean because in a way he’s scaring her, at least in my opinion. From watching the retold Shakespeare comedy version, I understand the play much, much better. Mainly because it’s a more moderate version and I can relate more to the concept without questioning myself. In act 5 I am expecting more of a conclusion out of it. I like dramatic endings with stories like this. I do wonder if Bianca and Lucentio will marry and how will Tranio turn back into Tranio again.
