act IV

My thoughts about this play are that i find it very entertaining and i like the way Shakespeare even in this play manages to make the men look like idiots. Also i think that this play can be very funny at times. For example when Pertrutio makes fun of his slaves and makes Kate stay up all night and i like the way he "kills her with kindness". The versions that we have seen in class have made it easier to understand the play because i get to see it in two different perspectives. For example i get to see it in an old English way and i get to see it in a more modern version that makes a lot more sense then Shakespeare's language. I think that Bianca and Lucentio are going to get married and Pertrutio is going to get the love of Kate and he's going to fall in love with her. The questions i have are: What made Shakespeare write a play that can so easily fit in with modern day events? Also how he could make such a serious play into a kind of funny play?
