Introduction blog

The beginning of this play was funny, but I feel like it is off to a really slow start, non of Bianca’s suitors are to my liking and they all seem pretty old and boring. I mean, maybe its just how Shakespeare wanted them to be, but they are all really dull, and aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed, and why are they so desperate to get with Bianca in the first place? How many girls have they known in their lifetime? I mean… there should be more out there right? more than one specific girl named Bianca out and available…?? Katherine on the other hand, was nothing like I expected her to be. I mean.. she cries because guys are after her sister, and thinks her father doesn’t love her because he wants to marry Bianca off. I would be happy that he didn’t want to get rid of me. The fact that Katherine hits Bianca is ridiculous as well, because hitting your sister will defiantly stop guys from hitting on her, and will of course result in hr telling you who she likes. I don’t know why, but Petruchio makes me angry too. He’s just so obnoxious, trying to win and annoy Katherine at the same time, I’m surprised that Katherine hasn’t hit him yet. Why is she so mean to every one else and not to the one guy that really counts? These characters are just so cliché, they are either just plain dumb boys, girlie girls, or girlie girls trying to be not so girly. Shakespeare really did design some pretty annoying characters this time…Whether it be on purpose or on accident, he succeeded.

  1. Gabby! Still not quite the right assignment! Before the play starts, there's an introduction -- this assignment was to read that and respond to it. Look at the assignment directions for more info.
