The trick is that Sly would become a lord in 24 hours and when he woke up he would be in a lush bed and he would be told that he was sick. People would deam him insane but he eventually realizes that he is infact a lord. The trick is played on him becuase the real lord is a jerk. He think's that it is funny to play tricks on poor people, just to fill his belly with a few laughs.
