We find that Mr. Darcy and Mr. Wickham had a dark past together. Wickham was taken in by Darcy’s father and cared for him up until his death. Apparently, Wickham betrayed Darcy’s father pretending to become either a preacher or minister. He then tries to trick Mr. Darcy’s baby sister into running off to get eloped but she didnt know that he wanted to marry her for her fortune so he can run off with it. Which made Mr. Darcy extremely upset. I think Elizabeth was extremely shocked that she was speechless about it. I dont think she would have expected Wickham to have such behavior like he does now. She believes Darcy because she knows despite his attituide he wouldnt lie about something like that and thats when her feelings for him begin to show. I think when Darcy and Lizzy see each other at his estate they don’t know what to say because they didn’t expect to see each other. But I do know that deep down inside they were both happy to see each other and i thought that was a good thing.
