Assignment 4

So far I am really enjoying the book. At first, it was hard for me to figure out who was who and what exactly was going on but now I think I have a pretty good idea of what is happening. One character I really dislike is Bingley’s sister, Caroline. She is a conniving, jealous woman who is only interested in herself and making the lives of other people miserable. It made me very angry when she sent Jane those letters that were discouraging her to have an interest in Mr. Bingley. She lied to Jane saying that they would be away in London all winter and that Bingley had his eye on Mr. Darcy’s sister, just because she didn’t want her brother to get involved with Jane. I was also very surprised that Elizabeth’s friend Charlotte so readily accepted the proposal of Mr. Collins, not out of love, but for the sake of comfort. I agree with Elizabeth that her decision was very stupid and that she has basically cursed herself in having any happiness in her marriage, or life really. I am hoping that Jane can see through Caroline’s deceit and that Charlotte wakes up and realizes the choice she has made.
