Assignment # 5

The humor of Mr. Collins and Lady Catherine de Bourgh, is that they are very clueless. They don't seem to be very smart and they like to criticize people that are not as well off as they are. It is funny to me because they say such stupid things. Jane Austen might have been criticizing the stubbornness and snootiness that people of that era would have if they were wealthy. Jane Austen is criticizing about the way that Mr. Collins and Lady Catherine aren't very smart and yet they like to show off their money and they like to call out people that aren't very rich. I found that very stubborn of them and prejudice because they don't know much about these people and they go off expecting that the lower class is stupid, and dirty. Lady Catherine de Bourgh, who especially thinks she is so much better than everyone, is not very happy when Jane actually says something back to her. Something else I think that Jane Austen was criticizing is that some wealthy people just are not very smart, and some are prejudice of lower class people because they think that they are superior to everyone without much money.
