Assignment 10

I was not expecting the conversation between Lady Catherine de Bourgh and Elizabeth to take place and was surprised at how forthright Lady Catherine was at telling Elizabeth upfront that she would by no means necessary marry Mr. Darcy. She was very nasty and openly told Elizabeth how he and his cousin were meant to be married since birth and demanded to know if they were planning on marrying. Elizabeth was very good at keeping her ground though, and told her very plainly that no one was to make that decision for her. This adds to my love for Elizabeth, proving herself a strong, capable woman who doesn’t take anything from anyone. Finally, Elizabeth and Darcy both reveal their love for one another! After all that each of them have been through, all the pain they each caused each other, they have finally realized they belong together. I think they both have grown significantly as people and have matured a lot since they first met. Darcy has become more responsible through his love for Elizabeth, and has made many sacrifices for her. Elizabeth has grown from being quick to judge to a slightly more relaxed woman, I think, and has realized all that Darcy has done for her and greatly appreciates that.
