P and P #9.

In chapters 51-55, Lydia returns home, married, with her new husband Mr. Wickham. When she arrives home, she immediately starts bragging about her marriage saying things like how nobody else in the family could have better luck than she. Elizabeth then learns that it was Mr. Darcy who paid for the wedding and not Mr. Gardiner. Mrs. Gardiner then sends a letter to Elizabeth confirming that Mr. Darcy paid for the wedding. Wickham and Elizabeth then take a walk together and discuss what went on when Wickham was in London with Lydia. Lydia then departs from Longbourn with Wickham. And then in the next few days, Mr. Bingley and Mr. Darcy arrive at Longbourn. Bingley and Darcy leave quickly and in the next week a large party is held at Longbourn, where Elizabeth starts to notice her feeling for Mr. Darcy growing and growing. Then Bingley arrives at Longbourn, alone and he finally proposes to Jane and Jane accepts. Then the Bennet’s congratulate Jane immensely on her good fortune.
